“The response I received from Deputy Mayor Lucia Tanti to my council question on the canteen service is unsatisfactory.

The questions I asked are essentially two: whether or not the Municipality will be able to resume the school meal service in-house when the current call expires in 2027, and whether to allow children to eat a home-prepared lunch at school. In recent months and years, there has been no shortage of complaints about the quality and quantity of food, increasing costs, and the difficulty in varying menus, with simple alternatives such as plain pasta. In this regard, some families in financial difficulty are forced to shoulder the fees without obtaining an offer deemed adequate for their children.

Beyond the gloss in the answer, which I found consistent with the usual pedantic and assertive style of the deputy mayor, who may be a candidate for mayor in the future and then a city councilor in the next mandate, I am told that the 'government model' will certainly not be changed and therefore the service will continue to be entrusted to the winner of a tender, secondly, the undersigned is informed that the 'do-it-yourself' meal models would be the way to remove an educational value from mealtime. I think I understood, from a food point of view because they would be the way to bring chips and sweets into the schools in abundance.

On the basis of all these considerations, it is added that the canteen service has a very high satisfaction index: it is in fact considered 'good' by 71% of users. I believe first of all that a reliable evaluation should be measured over a much longer period, at least a whole month every day, and not as is currently done with evaluation forms collected by the Municipality at rather long intervals.
